The Intensity Dance Cheerleading Squad
Bonnyrigg Heights dance school Intensity Dance has proven it is among the best in the state after coming second at the recent NSW Dance and Cheer Championships.
School’s principal Jade Geary said she was over the moon with the silver medal win.
“I have never enjoyed watching a sport event as much as I did those championships,” Ms Geary said.
“The students had so much fun and the atmosphere with thousands of supportive families and friends was amazing.
“The squad has only been training since February with coach Bosa Stojanovic, and to get second place in our division was a great achievement - I was so proud of my students.”
Ms Geary said the nine girls in the squad had shown dedication beyond their years.
“It is a fast-paced, dynamic sport that encompasses stunt, tumbling, tosses and dance,” she said. “It requires dedication and a strong work ethic from the athletes who participate.
“It is as physically demanding as any other mainstream sport.”
The Intensity Dance/Cheerleading Squad comprises students Alicia Hellyer, Brooke Hellyer, Chloe Makko, Breana Haynes, Abby O’Flynn, Natalie Smith, Alyssa Smith, Vanessa Rak and Brittany Beath.
